The Marriage Factor   by Daniel J. Belcher, Jr.

Marriage is an institution that is meant to benefit the individuals involved as well as society. As an institution, it stands as one of the most important. It is the joining of a man and a woman who have decided for a variety of reasons to share their lives together. Marriage is a solid foundation on which to build a life of shared interest. The benefits of working together allow for each person to look out for the others' interest. A society that does not maintain a strong institution of marriage will eventually decay.

Marriage works bests when the individuals involved have reached a certain level of maturity. If the individuals in the marriage have not grown to be well balance then the marriage will face many troubles. The level of maturity must involve a sense of commitment to the union by being willing to work, sacrifice and give to each other. Also, the involvement in the community and the friendliness with neighbors will all help maintain a level and balanced marriage. The maturity for marriage sometimes comes with age and some with experience.

Maintaining a marriage is best accomplished in the willingness of each person to sometimes be right and sometimes be wrong. When there is no give and take in a marriage there will be plenty of marital troubles because each person wants to always be right. It is not always necessary to be right at the expense of continually hurting your spouses feeling. Love in a marriage will help you to sometimes see the others' view point.

One of the greatest benefits about marriage is the companionship that comes in that institution. As one becomes older the companionship will be more important and meaningful. Marriage will allow each person to become accustomed to companionship of the other. They will share their thoughts and dreams with each other. Marriage allows for a listening ear to the many events that happen in our daily lives. Marriage allows man and women to conveniently satisfy their communal needs.

Marriage will allow for the inner growth of each individual. On the road of marriage there will sometimes be challenges that will enable you both to grow. These are some of the things that will begin to blossom in you, patience, endurance, temperance, and a greater love. Marriage for most people will allow them to have a more complete experience of life. They will grow together physically and spiritually. The union marriage will give one a more complete fulfillment of their life's journey.
