There was a time long ago when record albums had "hidden" message soundtracks as well as "backmasking." The Beatles did that on their White Album with the song Revolution Number 9, which had a message recorded backwards. Of course, to hear it, you had to have a turntable, like the ones found in radio stations, in order to play the songs backwards to catch the message. This "inside" information used to make one feel special as well as stand out from the crowd.
